Winter wonderland We love Mount Engadine Lodge so much! I recommend everyone to come here and see for yourself! We have been twice, both in the winter, and it never disappoints. They're so accommodating with our dogs and any food restrictions you might have-they can do it! The food is wonderful! The staff are really nice and engaging. We've stayed only in the glamping tents and they're awesome! So cozy! The only somewhat negative thing I would say is the bed is really soft and we prefer something slightly firmer but that's just us!

Our stay exceeded my expectations. Stayed in a glamping tent in the winter and brought my pooch. They even had a welcome sign, dog bed, and bowls waiting for her in the room upon our arrival. Although it is a “tent”, it is very warm and has running water with full bathroom. The food is amazing. The staff are top notch and provide amazing service. Will 100% be coming back.

Amazing !!!! The beds were great and the food was outstanding. I was so pleased with the coziness of the glamping tent. I had no idea one could camp in the winter. Absolutely beautiful. The snow was so welcome in such a location. I felt like I was in a snow globe.

You finally get what you pay for with this luxury stay Fantastic food and over all a lovely stay in a great location. Very beautiful inside and, of course, the jaw dropping winter beauty outside. VERY pricy, but at least the quality of everything makes it a lovely treat. The only reason I gave one less mark for the otherwise comfortable room I was in with a great view, is that I have perfume allergies and the bedding service they use doesn't seem able to accomodate this allergy. BUT only one mark as it wasn't the biggest issue. I had to bring my own bedding and cover the sheets and pillows but otherwise the bed was very comfy with a nice array of pillows. And I think it may be either very low perfume or maybe even perfume free but has whiteners or some such that bothered me a bit. Wasn't too bad covering the pillows and sheets with my own bedding (which having to bring is a slight annoyance). Still, I got a bloody nose the next day, though honestly could have just been from the incredibly dry air and multiple days out in it. It's a pretty common and major issue though (Perfume allergies) so at this cost I hope they find a way to do toxin free bedding soon. (It's as easy as buying the perfume free option that every major brand has for the same price, then maybe doing an extra hot rinse for whiteners or using steam as so many places do. So this isn't a hardship to sort out).

Traveling with your pup in winter comes with its struggles especially when ‘patio season’ isn’t in full swing! Mount Engadine Lodge not only had incredible meals but we were also able to dine with our pup in the lounge! The friendly staff and views just can’t be beat at this place! We stayed in the glamping tent and it was perfect for what we wanted! Will definitely be making a trip back!

Have stayed here a couple of times, primarily over Xmas. Amazing romantic place to disappear in the middle of winter. Food and service are excellent. Also, they have amazing afternoon tea so even if you aren’t staying here, you can go on a hike and enjoy a $35 afternoon team.

Another great visit to Mount Engadine Lodge For three years my adult children and I have spent December 23 and 24 at Mount Engadine Lodge for a pre-Christmas break. It is always relaxing, beautiful, quiet and low key. Combined with lots of good food, friendly staff and some of the world's most stunning scenery I hope to continue to make this a family tradition for years to come.

Clean and cozy accommodations, wonderful hospitality and we were kept well-fed with delicious gourmet meals. We took our 6 year old over Christmas break for a few nights and stayed in one of the glamping tents - do not be afraid of the cold, it is surprisingly toasty inside, with indoor plumbing as well! We had lots of fun snowshoeing and hiking in the area, as well as just hanging out at the lodge chatting with other guests. We can't wait to visit again!

We spent Christmas Eve 2019 in this magical place. Our cabin was cosy and warm, and our little dog was welcomed! The lodge was rustic and charmingly decorated. Food was plentiful and delicious and the staff was attentive and friendly. After a filling Christmas morning breakfast we spent a couple of hours snow shoeing which was breathtaking. A fabulous get away!

Fabulous Christmas Firstly the lack of TV , Radio and cell phone signal is wonderful, it made for a peaceful and relaxing break. The location of the lodge is stunning and online photos do not do it justice ,located in a beautiful valley over looked by stunning mountain scenery it is picture postcard perfect. From the moment we arrived ( along with elderly dog) we were made to feel welcome by staff. We stayed in the Birdwood cabin which was nicely decorated and very warm and comfortable, did hear good things about glamping tents though and would try them next time. The food during the stay was excellent, I did contact the lodge in advance with a few dislikes and the chief was more than accommodating and prepared delicious alternatives, the afternoon tea is definitely one of the highlights and is worth cutting an afternoon’s activity short to try it , superb. Liked the way the meals were served around large tables family style , it got you talking to other guests which was nice, had some interesting conversations.on the whole this was the perfect place to stay for Christmas if you want to completely unwind , relax, enjoy great scenery , snowshoeing and good food .we will DEFINITELY be returning!

Christmas perfection Another lovely stay at Engadine. We travelled with our two senior dogs and stayed in a glamping tent. It was perfect. The tent was cozy and roomy enough for all of us, and just a short walk to the main lodge for dining and hanging out. The staff is as everyone says, really nice, helpful, like extended family. The location is beautiful, lots of outdoorsy stuff to do, or you can hang in by the fire if you prefer. I personally LOVED not having cell service or wifi - a true electronics detox. Thanks again for the wonderful stay and we hope to see you again in the summer. ~ The Walkers

Worth the money....oh yes! Was browsing online when came across an online article linking to Mountain resorts. Liked the look of Engadine which allowed pets (reasonable rate$) and the Alberta discount helped too. Decided on the glamping experience which allowed us a little more freedom than being in the lodge. First thing it is a trek to get there, even in a vehicle as you really are going into the back country. A good 20-30 min drive from Canmore you certainly get to see the mountains in all their snowy glory. Parking can be a little cramped with day visitors there for afternoon teas etc, but a little patience is rewarded. Was greeted very courteously upon arrival, and the young lady took her time showing all guests to theirs rooms or “glamping” tents. A definite laid back rustic charm was in the air and you could feel that nothing was getting rushed up here. Ours was just being finished by housekeeping, and they took time to point out all the amenities it had. Including the thermostats – helped to keep the fan going to circulate air in the tent, shower, stove heater and more. The kingsize bed was super comfortable and the number of pillows was more than enough. The slippers provided were a nice touch as the floor was a touch draughty being a tent but the dogs were fine with that. A nice armchair to curl up near the stove in the tent would be a good idea maybe?? just a thought. After depositing the dogs and luggage in the tent, we went to the main lodge to get a cup of the endless flowing coffees and teas that were on offer and to try some of the pastries. Can highly recommend both. Can see why people make this a pit stop after a day of activities in the mountains. Did not try the charcuterie board or anything on the menu as at this point was not certain what was included in the package we had and what was not. (Tip – do ask the lovely ladies at the front desk, Jenna and Victoria?) We had ordered the romance package to be ready upon arrival, unfortunately is was not but a quick word with a staff member or two and was assured it would be there when we got back to the tent – and it certainly was, so no biggie really. Tent was close to the main lodge so was able to pick up the wifi signal which was a little bit of a surprise. Not that we used it to any great degree. Was nice not to have ties to electronic gadgets and to unwind at a busy time of year. Food was fabulous and lived up to its reputation with a prime rib dinner the first night. Drinks were available and not super expensive – the honour bar was nice touch for guests as staff retire around 10 ish. The stars were bright at night and seeing the snow come down was a beautiful end to the day. Slept in the next morning so missed breakfast, but upon getting coffee was able to order our packed lunches. One of the ladies from the front desk made the sandwiches to order and had them ready asap! Before going out to finish chopping wood. The whole area is very relaxing and in the sun looked amazing – the moose licking the salt off the parked cars was not too bothered by it all though. Christmas dinner was an elaborate affair with complimentary champagne at the tables, a turducken handcarved by the chef and a rich chocolate dessert….Family style dining meant that you got to meet and mingle with other guests who were there from all over the world. Hanging out in the lodge by the one of the fires, reading, playing games or just having down time was a great feeling. Breakfast the next day was equally as good with the choice being spicy frittatas, or pancakes. Again can vouch for both. Even though we were leaving that day was still able to order a packed lunch for the road. Very relaxing and a fabulous place to get away from things!

Backcountry Getaway We stayed in the glamping tents as a last minute get-out-of-town-over-Christmas endeavor. One of the main things that attracted us to Mount Engadine was their pet friendly policy--much to the surprise and amusement of our friends we brought our cat with us. The "tents" were very well put together and were more like cabins with a gas stove heater, a king size bed, couch, three-piece bathroom, and a balcony with a great view of moose meadows. A la carte breakfast was included and there was a different selection each day. They provided a bagged lunch, free icers, free snowshoes, and rentable fatbikes to encourage outdoor adventuring. We rented the fatbikes though the local trails were not well suited to that due to the amount of snow so we returned them and grabbed a set of snowshoes--much more appropriate for the local terrain. If you give the staff an hour notice, they will fire up the backcountry sauna for you. Afternoon tea includes a complementary charcuterie board and access to the various baked goods, teas, and coffees. They provide an included set menu, family style dinner as well. You will certainly not leave hungry! The vibe is very casual--like hanging out with your friends and family at your own backcountry villa--without having to cook, clean or worry about a thing!

Truly a getaway I recently stayed at the Mount Engadine Lodge for two nights for my birthday. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time and we also brought our two dogs. We stayed in the Birdwood cabin, and it was wonderful. Overall our experiences were great, and we've both discussed coming back in the summer months. When I first arrived I was under the impression that there was no cell phone service, and no wifi, which scared me a bit at first, but to be honest it is what made my trip, and truly helped me shut off from the real world. Eventually I found out that there is wifi but you can only get access to it at the lodge. The lodge itself was beautifully decorated for christmas, and has plenty of board games which neither of us typically go out of our way to play, but they had some great games for all ages. Another feature is that they have extra snow shoes available for free to use at your disposal. We tried them out our first day there and we did the Chester Lake snow shoe trail with our dogs and it had some beautiful views. It was a bit chilly at the top and took us about 3 hours round trip. Lots of uphill, but downhill was a lot more fun. The food here is another thing I cannot say enough good things about. They will feed you to the point of weight gain seriously, and its delicious, you won't fight it I promise. The meals each day were different, and each was better then the last. Our cabin was my favourite part, the Birdwood definitely has some of the best views and in my opinion is quite private compared to the other rooms. The walls are a bit thin between the cabins as we heard quite a bit from our neighbours, but for half the time we stayed here we were the only guests so its not a huge issue. There is also an old school wood burning stove sauna which was probably the coolest sauna I have been in, there is a small change room outside the sauna, but it is partially outside so make sure you bring a coat with you. I also cannot say enough good things about the staff members, they were so down to earth and friendly and made me feel like I was at a family's cabin. Each one of them is willing to help you in anyway they can. There is a coffee, hot chocolate, tea station where you can make your own warm drinks, and real 2 wood burning fireplaces in different rooms which were so comforting. You also cannot beat the views. This place has a special place in my heart and seems like a secret paradise that not too many people are aware of. If you enjoy the outdoors, and escaping the hustle and bustle of the city, this is the place for you. Also bring slippers for the lodge, it makes things a lot more homey and it is a bit chilly sometimes. I love this place!

Christmas in the lodge We spent Christmas 2015 in the lodge - staying in one of the suites. We really enjoyed our stay, the food was great and we couldn't have wished for a better place to spend our Christmas. The property is located close to the Spray Lake, ideally placed to explore the back country!
