The staff at Mount Engadine Lodge were very friendly and welcoming, and I have nothing negative to say about the service. That being said, I personally found the experience quite overpriced for what was offered. I paid almost $900 for one night in the glamping tent for myself and my son. Meals were included, which was nice, but even taking that into consideration, I felt the overall value was difficult to justify. The property is very remote and requires driving approximately 31 km on a gravel road to get there, which made for a pretty rough drive. Once there, I also found there were very few amenities or things to do. There is essentially no cell reception or mobile data, and Wi-Fi/connectivity is mainly available around the lodge/lobby area. It is definitely a beautiful wilderness setting, but guests should also be aware that this is grizzly country and wildlife is present in the surrounding area. Ultimately, I think this type of remote, off-grid experience will appeal to certain people, but it just wasn't for me. For the price I paid, I expected considerably more in terms of amenities and overall experience, so I personally wouldn't return. Others looking specifically for a very secluded wilderness getaway may feel differently.Posted on Expedia![]()

My wife and I stayed in the Birdwood cabin for two evenings and it was perfect. The views were incredible and the amenities in the cabin were very comfortable. The service and food were world class. The staff took pride in their work and were a great team. The drinks were creative and tasty and the coffee was some of the best we’ve evrr had. It was an amazing place to stay and we highly recommend it.+2Posted on Google![]()

Went for the afternoon charcuterie for 4. More like afternoon nibble. "A light afternoon offering" FOR $37 PER PERSON. Portions were incredibly small, would have been fine for 2 people but definitely not 4 especially for the price. Not worth the drive considering our experience. Total cost was $180 for the smallest charcuterie and two subpar cocktails ($16 each) prior to tipping and includes the 20% deposit we had to pay to keep the reservation. The charcuterie we recieved was the same size of that served to a single couple served shortly after we were. We feel absolutely cheated. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Very disappointing and over priced. The Cabin need urgent repair with sloping floors The setting is beautiful, the staff very friendly and eager to accommodate the guest’s needs (excellent) but the room (cabin) was in urgent need of renovations and the “vegetarian” suppers were very basic (plain tofu on a sauce) and both dinners and room were totally uninspiring considering the almost $790.00 a night charge. The floor of our room was so sloped you could roll a marble easily out the door from the middle of the room to the deck. Lunch was a packed lunch with one large brimming bun with one additional item allowed only (one cookie or one package of nuts) and if the guest wanted more food than the allowed amount each additional item (package of potato chips etc.) was changed an additional $3.00 per item. This nickel and diming was so miserly it seemed totally inappropriate. Our cabin room lacked privacy with a shared deck (kids playing on our shared deck) and we could hear all the conversations in the room next to us. I would not recommend this lodge for the price.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Communal dinner is a disappointing experience for the price This was a very special trip I planned for our anniversary which was worthy of celebration considering the trials we have had raising a child with severe medical issues (which we had to get respite in order to come). We were looking forward to a very nice dinner in celebration. We were seated with a family who obviously wanted to be on their own dining as well... understandably. They left for a while and then came back. A server cam by and offered them a complimentary bottle of wine... only for the four of them not the communal table. This made us feel like we really intruding on someone else's special night instead of celebrating our own. Overall a very nice resort great people, but for the money the communal dinner kind of ruined our experience. Also be warned that the road up to the resort is about 25km of washboards and loose gravel, so make sure you have an appropriate vehicle for this.Posted on Google![]()

Favorite place in the Kananaskis The Lodge is easily our favorite place in the Kananaskis. From easy check in, afternoon tea, charcuterie and apple pie, delicious 3 course dinners, beautiful patio with expansive views of local mountains and wildlife, nice lodge rooms, comfy bed, great shower, tasty breakfast made to order and delicious sandwiches to go - what more can you ask for. And now there's also sauna and communal fire pit. All the food and cocktails were delicious and staff was knowledgeable and friendly. We will be back.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

I was here as a local doing a photography tour with my business Owl Eye Photography. It was a reccomendation to my client. The service and staff are unreal. We saw a moose with her baby in the morning. I love the consistent lunch menu and breakfeast fixtures, as well tea time snacks. We had a new breakfeast and dinner each day. The chief Matt has to prepare for all staff and guests on a weekly basis, that takes alot of skill and planning. Sauna is from 10-6. I understand the hours around food, it would be nice to have a evening sauna as its very hot in the day. I wonder if there is a system that could be made around that efficiency. Kananaskis is a magical place and the staff and business do alot to make sure everyone is comfortable. We had our heater not work after the first night, I reccomend double checking this so you can be warm. Even in summer you can freeze ! They were really helpful organizing a solution here. This is my biggest reccomendation to clients coming for their Elopements, Weddings, Hiking.+1Posted on Booking![]()

nice lodge, friendly staff, some shortcomings Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Mt. Engadine Lodge. The food was very good and the views from the deck and dining room are superb. We especially appreciated fresh berries for breakfast. However, the wine and beer list didn't match up to the quality of the food, and the staff lacked expertise about the surrounding area - and there were no maps available.Posted on Google![]()

We were positively thrilled to stay at Engadine Lodge June 28-30. The food was amazing, the staff were excellent and the scenery was incredible! We stayed in a 1 bedroom cabin (Burstall), which was super cozy. Our stay was only supposed to be one night, but due to excessive rain and snow run-off, highway 742 experienced several rock and mud slides, effectively leaving the roads impassable and the guests at Engadine stranded for an extra day and a half. The kindness, compassion and generosity of the manager (Rai) to guests and to the back country travelers and cyclists who arrived at the lodge with no place else to go was exceptional. Rai and the entire staff took care of everyone and kept the vibe of Engadine Lodge upbeat and safe. It was an amazing experience and a lovely place to be stranded. We look forward to returning again one day!!+4Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Lovely place, right in the middle of nature and among the bears. When I was there, there was an encounter with a bear, but despite that, we had a nice stay. The food wasn't entirely to our taste. Breakfast with fried potatoes and tomato isn't really our thing. Fortunately, there were some other things to eat at breakfast. Friendly staff!

My husband and I ended up at this lodge after being lost for about 1.5-2 hours and empty on gas at around 945pm, while there was a wedding taking place. The woman working at the lodge, who was also the wedding planner (?) was soooo kind to us and let us use the WiFi and the landline so we could call for help. Thank you soo much!! We are grateful for your help and are safely back in Toronto. We are hoping to come back and stay at this lodge whenever we visit Banff again 😄Posted on Google![]()

Beautiful location but needs TLC The staff at the lodge were amazing, the location is beautiful, the food was delicious, and there were an abundance of pet-friendly rooms, all of which was excellent. However, the rooms themselves and the main lodge need some TLC from years of wear and tear. While the lodge is also meant to be an "unplugged" sort of experience to just be in nature, the rooms lack some basic creature comforts, like a mini fridge or coffee maker, that make staying away from home just a little more comfortable. With prices well over $700 per night, I would not stay again until the lodge freshens up some of these issues.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

My wife and I went to just relax and that was accomplished in magnificent style. The food is absolutely amazing, we were not hungry at any time. They have a great wood fired barrel sauna that was great to start the relaxing off. The views of the mountains surrounding the Lodge and valley are beyond descriptions and pictures do not do any justice. You have to see it and experience it in person. We had a lovely stay; however, when we checked out the staff neglected to mention that the road was closed. This resulted in us driving 45 min each way to and from the road closure. There is very little service in the area and because of the hour and a half out of our way we almost did not have enough gas which could have resulted in a significant safety risk (again, in an area with minimal to no service). I think because of the remote location of the lodge they should make it a priority to notify guests of road closures and alternate routes. Ultimately, this really negatively colored our experiencePosted on Tripadvisor![]()

Disappointing stay I had high hopes. We booked a glamping tent which was very neat and cozy. The tents are situated right next to their driveway (and not in the trees or meadow as I pictured) Location of the lodge is amazing and staff were fabulous! Very disappointing was the food! Small charcuterie board with very few crackers (why skimp on that?) Dinner was very bland and nothing special at all and its communal eating at large tables. The “cold” breakfast selection was nice, the cooked to order breakfast bland again with overcooked dried bacon and totally tasteless potatoes. Packed lunch is a nice idea but the bun was so stale and dry that I couldn’t enjoy the toppings. And they should throw a water bottle or juice into the packed lunch. For the price we paid, it was unfortunately not worth it and I just expected more!Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Perfect dog friendly family retreat. We have stayed here a few times now. Have stayed in rooms and glamping tent. We always bring our dog and the dog friendly rooms are spacious and quiet for our anxious pooch. The food and service are both great. There are nice extra touches, like the sleds and swing for our kids to enjoy. They are flexible to make kid friendly food too. The aesthetic suites the mountain location: not too modern or fussy, classic and simple. It is a bit pricey, but all food is included and the location cannot be beat. You can go for hikes right out of the property. The value for price is excellent. We will be back again.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

I have nothing but amazing things to say about this place. From check-in to the moment we left, everything was exceptional. We brought our fur baby along, and the attention to detail was beyond adorable, a welcome sign, dog bed, bowls, poop bags, and even a gourmet treat waiting just for him. Such a thoughtful touch! High tea in front of the wood-burning fireplace was incredibly peaceful and romantic, we were severed a tasty charcuterie board and desserts that we paired with a glass of wine. Before dinner we enjoyed the sauna, which I highly recommend. It was the perfect way to unwind and soak in the experience. What an amazing place to unwind. We went with a young child and booked the larger room/cabin. We were never hungry, which always seems a risk for an 'all inclusive' stay. Food was great, atmosphere was great and we really felt like we were in a place we could call home. The setting is surreal and beautiful, the staff were as helpful as possible and plenty of activities for us to do solo or with others, including just lounging around in front of the fireplace, going for a stroll and even taking the e-bike out on some icy roads around the local area. We enjoyed meeting the other guests at mealtimes & hearing everyone's stories. The staff helped us with what hikes would be suitable, we are from the UK so not used to altitude! We loved Kananaskis and, if we make it back to Canada, Mount Engadine is one of the places we would come back to.Posted on Booking![]()

☺A charcuterie and cheese board with a small cocktail on the terrace with a breathtaking view—pure bliss! ☹It's not really a negative aspect; dining at a communal table is never easy for someone with social anxiety, but over the years I've learned to manage it better and better.+0

I’m not sure what’s happened to this place, but it has really gone downhill. It used to be quite peaceful and the food portions used to be plentiful. Now they’ve added a bunch Yurts and it’s clear that the common areas are way too busy all the time. The charcuterie plate is still amazing. But the food has really gone downhill, including the portions. I’ve been there twice in the last two years and each time when they’ve served beef the portions are incredibly small. Like I took pictures to send to people to laugh about how small the portions were. They have recently had more in the way of German cooks, and maybe that’s why. Also, some of the staff are unfriendly. During Christmas time, the staff almost pushed us out of the cabin and fire area, just so they could have a party. I don’t know, man they should really have better control over everything, including food, consistency, and staff. I wonder if the staff realize that people are paying basically $1400 a night if they have a family with them. I did not tip them.Posted on Booking![]()

Superb stay ☺ The lodge had a wonderful view across a large meadow with a winding river and is in the heart of Kananaskis. We saw elk across the valley. The cabin was clean and very comfortable with a great view and all the meals were excellent. We found great hiking trails within easy reach. ☹ Nothing!Posted on Booking![]()

Make the trip, stay a while and enjoy! ☺ Amazing location right in the thick of the Kananaskis wilderness. The lodge is located remote but within short commute of Canmore. While the road is unsealed (and in some areas in rough condition during our visit) t’s generally well kept and easy driving. Views on the way in, at the lodge, and waking up to are worth it! Packed lunch was awesome too! ☹ Make sure you plan your day just right to make the most of the afternoon tea.Posted on Booking![]()

Fantastic! We'd love to come back! ☺ Great location, attentive and friendly staff, and excellent food. The glamping tents were superbly equipped and comfortably furnished, and the bed was large and very comfortable. We were able to watch mule deer and moose right in front of the terrace. ☹ Everything was perfect!

Wonderful backcountry stay but with all the comforts of home. ☺ The property was situated along a meadow and close to numerous hiking trails. The room was clean, lodge was cozy, and the bed in our room was amazing! The food was excellent and plentiful (loved the afternoon charcuterie board)! The staff were great!! We will definitely be back. ☹ Nothing!Posted on Booking![]()

Beautiful place, warm and cozy, good staff with lots of care ☺ Staff and food were amazing. But we barely had WiFi signal in our room. Beautiful place to visit. Expencive but worth visiting. ☹ Wifi signal in our room. We had to go to the lobby for signal. Very early breakfast wasn't that pleasant+6Posted on Booking![]()

Beautiful lodge in the heart of nature ☺ Beautiful location surrounded by nature, making it very peaceful. Several hiking trails are nearby. Delicious food. Packed lunch provided. Special dietary requests are accommodated. Simple rooms, but everything you need is there. Good Wi-Fi connection. Friendly staff. Free tea/coffee ☹ Breakfast is only served from 8-9 am. If you want to set off early for hiking, etc., 8 am is a bit late. The family-style dinner is a nice idea, but it doesn't really feel like a restaurant setting. Unfortunately, you're not asked if that's okay or if you'd prefer a private table. In my opinion, it's rather expensive for the comfort it offers, but that's generally the case in Banff/Canmore, etc. No daily room service.

Excellent location, disappointing service ☺Exceptional location ☹Upon arrival at the room, we found litter and a wet section of the floor. When we informed the staff, they came to clean up the trash and apologized. So far, so good. When we checked out the next day, they told us that as compensation for the inconvenience, they would deduct the extra charges from the room, which was a bottle of wine we had consumed. When we told them that we had NOT consumed the bottle, the manager and the employee exchanged skeptical glances and questioned our words. We repeated that we had not consumed anything extra, and they continued to look at each other. Ultimately, we received no compensation (which is the least of our concerns, although for the price we paid, it would have been nice) and they further questioned our version of events. We felt very disappointed. It's worth mentioning that I am writing this public review after sending a private email a week ago and receiving no response.

Staff are very friendly and food was excellent. Place disappointing as described in above comments ☺ Food was excellent. Should have table for 2 as not all people what to eat with strangers. They did accommodate us at a large table. ☹ Found the information on website to be misleading. Thought we would have a separate cabin with private balcony. Room is very small. Outside was a mess, looked like an avalanche had come thru. Spoke to manager about disappointing first impression, he did not even offer apology for the mess, just excuse that work was done. In my opinion for the price we paid was very disappointing. Also add on of tip was not mentioned at time of booking, so I was even charged more. The only thing that saved this stay was food and mountain view. Will not return or recommend.Load more
